Termly Overview - Spring One

At Midfield, we believe that planning should be based around the children’s experiences and interests to motivate, challenge and engage them. In Foundation subjects such as History and Geography, we follow the Core Curriculum. In Literacy we base our planning around Read Write Inc and Power of Reading schemes in line with the national curriculum and in mathematics, we follow the Maths Mastery scheme.

Outdoor Learning forms an integral part of our pupils' learning at Midfield.  Children have access to the eco-garden, outdoor music classroom, trim trail, swimming pool, Celtic hut and Forest School sites.

Connected Curriculum-

In History, we have been learning all about the Stone Age and the Iron Age. In Geography we continue to learn about Crazy Continents. In science we have been investigating and looking and everyday materials. After half term, we will be moving onto seasonal change. In RE, we will continue to learn about what Christians believe and learning about the significance of the Easter Story.

Literacy -

In Literacy we will continue to look at setting and character descriptions and writing stories using adjectives and similes. Children will continue to work in their Read Write Inc groups.

Maths -

In Maths we have been focusing on multiplication and division. Next week, we will be taking part in the Festival of Triangles and revisiting 2D shapes, sorting irregular and regular 2D shapes and naming their properties. After half term, we will begin learning about fractions.

Don't forget you can also keep up to date with your child's progress and what's going on via ClassDojo.smiley
