In September, Robins and Woodpeckers went on a fantastic Bushcraft adventure! We took advantage of the diverse and idyllic location of Hatfield Woods and engaged in so many activities that we can hardly list them all! On arrival, we built our own comfortable and functional camps. Then, we learned about how fire is made and went on to put this knowledge into practice.
Using natural woodland materials, we built shelters and we took part in workshops including 'camouflage and concealment', night-time stalking games and a wild food workshop. All the children had so much fun at the same time as developing their teamwork, leadership and practical thinking skills.
Those children who remained at school enjoyed the delights of being mud warriors, as well as walking through Scadbury Woods, looking for natural materials to create nature collages. They also visited Second Chance Animals Rescue (SCAR), where they had the opportunity to meet and feed the animals. Great fun was had by all.
