Butterfly lifecycles
We ordered some tiny caterpillars and very carefully prepared little pots for them to live in while they ate special, nutrient-rich food. They were so tiny, we had to use a soft paint brush to move them.
The caterpillars grew quickly, and after about two weeks they had gone from the size of an eyelash to nearly as big as a little finger! They crawled up to the top of their pots and formed a chrysalis, then we moved them into our butterfly enclosure, ready for them to hatch.
Unfortunately, they were not ready before we went away for Easter so Mr Carter and Miss Hinton took them home and showed us the photos and video of the beautiful butterflies as they hatched and were released.
