Early Years Admissions and Staffing
Nursery
We currently offer 60 Nursery places. This is made up of full time places and part time places. We offer 15 hours per week as our part time offer which is made up of 5 half days. Our morning part time places run from 8.30am to 11.30am and our afternoon part time places run form 12.30pm-3.30pm. Our 30 hours places run from 8.30-3.30 (with an extra hour to be paid). Alternatively 30 hours can be delivered from 8.30-2.30 without the additional hour charge. This can be arranged on an individual basis.
Admission Groups:
The school will consider applications for the beginning of each academic year in the following order:
- Children looked after, or who have an allocated social worker who has provided written support of the application or children who are the subject of adoption, residence order, child arrangements order or special guardianship order who were previously looked after by a Local Authority.
- Children who are recommended for a place at that school following an action plan agreed by a multi-disciplinary group, for example Team around the Child (TAC) or medical grounds.
- Children of staff at Midfield.
- Three year old children with a brother or sister currently attending the school and who will be at the school when the child is admitted.
- Children who turn three during an academic year (by the 31st August). If places are available, pupils will be offered a part time or full time place the term after their 3rd birthday.
- 2 year old children.
Admission criteria:
If there are more applications than places within the admissions group above, Midfield will adopt the following priorities to decide which children can be offered a place.
- Children who turn three during an academic year (by the 31st August). If places are available, pupils will be offered a part time or full time place the term after their 3rd birthday.
- 2 year old siblings for the January intake who turn 3 before Christmas.
- "I am 2s" funded children
- 2 year old self-funded children who do not fall into the above criteria, but whom turn 3 before Christmas.
Starting dates for Nursery children:
- Nursery children have a staggered intake to ensure children settle quickly and have a stress free start to their Early Years Education.
- Prior to starting, families are expected to attend a welcome meeting at the end of the Summer Term and an "All about me" meeting with the Nursery teacher.
Reception:
- We currently offer 60 places in our Reception classes.
- Children are eligible for Reception in the September of the school year in which they become 5 years old (1st September-31st August)
- Reception admissions are organised centrally by the London Borough of Bromley Admissions team http://www.bromley.gov.uk/info/13/primary_school_admissions
- The criteria for selection are different from those mentioned above for the Nursery. Having a place in the Nursery does not guarantee a place in the main school.
- Full details on admission to Reception, along with the timetable for applications, can be found on the Bromley Council website at tp://www.bromley.gov.uk/info/13/primary_school_admissions
The school also holds copies of the "Guide for Admissions" and application forms.
