Free School Meals
If you are in receipt of one of the following benefits your child may be entitled to FREE SCHOOL MEALS.
- Income Support
- Income based Job Seekers Allowance
- Income related Employment and Support Allowance
- The Guaranteed Credit element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit provided you are NOT entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (assessed by HM Revenue and Customs) that is £16,190 or less
- Support under part IV of the Immigration & Asylum Act 1999
Schools receive Pupil Premium Funding for each child who is entitled to FREE SCHOOL MEALS. In order to secure this funding it is important for you to make an application for your child if you are in receipt of any of the above benefits. Registering for FREE SCHOOL MEAL entitlement is confidential and the take up of the meal is recommended but is not compulsory. However registering a child for Free School Meals will bring more money to the school through the Pupil Premium Funding.
If your child is entitled to FREE SCHOOL MEALS he/she may be eligible for free music lessons through the Bromley Youth Music Trust (BYMT).
Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) ~ From September 2014
As from September 2014 all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes will be offered a school meal free of charge. This is separate to the FREE SCHOOL MEAL eligibility and it is therefore important that you still make an application if your child is eligible.
The school receives £1300 for each child who has been awarded FREE SCHOOL MEALS. This very important funding is used to support interventions and enrichments for all children in school to close the attainment gap.
Applications can be made online through the Bromley website www.bromley.gov.uk or by obtaining a form from the school office. It is important that you reapply in June/July each year as entitlement covers one school year only. If you would like help completing an application form our Family Worker will assist you. Applications for all children entitled to FREE SCHOOL MEALS must be renewed every year by completing a new application form.
