Home Learning Expectations

Free access to Love to Read resources for home learning ...

Parents and carers across the world are currently facing unprecedented circumstances – juggling family life, home learning, home working and all the other challenges and difficulties of these strange times. With that in mind, we urge you to remember that the most important thing for your child is to feel loved and safe at home, and home learning should therefore be done in a way that suits your family.

A few reminders to help:

Ø It is for you as a family to pick and choose from the work available to help keep minds active and to keep learning alive. We are simply providing enough for those of you who want to do more, but nobody will be judging anybody on how much is done. Many of you have more than enough to worry about without this added pressure.

Ø Please be aware that there are NO NEW TOPICS being covered in English and Maths. All of the work we are setting is to review, revise and embed the learning that has already taken place in school with topics we have already taught.  In this way, nobody will fall behind if they miss a piece of work set.

Ø There is no expectation that children keep a record of their learning to be later given to teachers and work done at home will not be marked by teachers. We are of course always on hand to help via dojo if anything is tricky and we welcome photos and updates of what you are doing at home as we love to share, however this is really your choice as to how much or how little you want to send on dojo.

Ø  We care very much about every single child at Midfield so please do keep in touch, even if it’s just once a week, to let us know you are ok and keep us posted on how your child is doing at home.

Ø Learning comes in so many forms so build our ideas and resources around a wide variety of other activities, which may include physical exercise, reading, creativity, cooking, gardening or simply relaxing, watching films, chatting with each other as a family or close friends online. Make the most of enjoying the opportunities this enforced grounding is offering.

Ø Please don’t argue about any of this! It is more important that you focus on working out how to be so closely confined as a family and how to get on. It won’t be the end of the world if this work isn’t done, it is much more important that you have harmony in your homes. If nothing else – just remember to stay active!

Ø We know that many of you will be anxious but we are here to help so please dojo the team if you need any help at all.
