PTA

Welcome to Midfield School Parents and Teacher Association Page

The PTA is newly established, taking over from the previous PTA as of November 2017. A new Committee was chosen at the AGM in January 2018.

Members are volunteers made up of parents, carers and Staff. You’re automatically a member of the Midfield Primary PTA whilst your child is a part of our school. We exist as a committee to co-ordinate and build a social community amongst parents, children and staff. We hope you will want to get involved, it really is great fun.

We organise and run a number of social and fund-raising activities throughout the year and proceeds enable us to support and fund a number of school initiatives that enhance our children's learning experience and that they would otherwise not be able to enjoy.

The PTA currently has a Committee of 9 parents and staff who oversee the running of the association, but meetings can be attended by anyone. Meetings are informal and are a good opportunity to get to know parents outside your own year group while doing something worthwhile for the school. Our AGM will be held in January, when a new Committee will be elected.

If you have any questions about the PTA or want to get involved please look out for us at the school, or drop us an email at midfield.pta@gmail.com. It doesn’t have to be a huge commitment, and we have great fun.

As in most schools, the majority of our funds are raised through the events that we run. Some of our most popular events are the:

  • Christmas Fair
  • Summer Fair
  • Discos
  • Carftanoon
  • Popcorn Club

As you can see, there is always something going on!

Donations are also extremely important. These can be of time, money, items for sale, donations for raffles etc... And most importantly – supporting our events by attending them!

How We Spend the Money We Raise?

We have a ‘wish list’ of items that the school would like to purchase. Sometimes this will be as a result of the children asking for something through their pupil voice groups, staff asking through the head teacher, or parent’s suggestions.

All of the money we raise is spent on resources to improve a particular area of the curriculum or school environment.  PTA funds are for the ‘extras’ not provided by the school budget, that make our children’s learning experiences so much more fulfilling and exciting.  We always endeavour to spend our funds in ways that will benefit all our children, across all areas of the school and curriculum.

Social Networking Policy

Where applications allow the posting of messages online, users must be mindful that the right to freedom of expression attaches only to lawful conduct. Midfield Primary School expects that users of social networking applications will always exercise the right of freedom of expression with due consideration for the rights of others and strictly in accordance with the Terms of Use found in the school’s social networking policy.

DBS checks

All adults wishing to work with children must first have a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check carried out. The forms are available from the school office.
