Science Week: Monday 9th – Friday 13th March

Everyone, from Nursery to Year 6 have immersed themselves in all things scientific this week. We've had special guests, such as a microbiologist running workshops with Years 1 and 2, buddy science experiments across the school and we have all worked together to create a bottle cap mural to highlight the issue of plastic pollution in our oceans.

Buddy Science experiment - Every class was paired with another year group (see table below). They got together to conduct a joint science experiment with the older children helping their younger buddy.

Keep our seas plastic free – bottle cap mural and design competition

Across the week, we have constructed our new bottle cap mural highlighting the environmental impact of plastic in our oceans.

Making the mural – The background was painted by the amazingly-talented Mrs Newport, based on the winning design we have from Thomas T in Hedgehogs.

The bottle caps were screwed face down on to the backboard with a small hand-held electric screwdriver, with every child int he school from Nursery to Year 6 having the opportunity to add one or two bottle caps.

Science Show - Fizz Pop Science will be back to offer a paid-for after school club and to run a whole-school assembly. This will take place on the Friday after Science week - Friday 20th March in the Hall from 2.35-3.00. Letters will be given out to encourage children to sign up to an after school science club, which will take place in Grasshoppers classroom for 5 weeks from Monday 20th April.

See individul class pages for their exciting Science Week activities.
